Are you ready for “Zombies Take Lisbon?”
The village’s first Zombiefest takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday (October 26) in Lisbon’s historic downtown. This family-friendly event will feature a zombie walk, contests, games, music and great food.
Sponsored by the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce, Zombiefest will also raise donations for the village’s food banks. “Come and show us your inner zombie,” said Chamber President Susan Shank. “This is a family fun filled day in Lisbon with games, contests and a scavenger hunt.”
There is no fee to participate and everyone is invited. Shank said that participants are only asked to bring a canned good or toiletry item to the Chamber’s staging area at Elton Auto Corral’s back parking lot at the corner of S. Jefferson Street and Washington Street.
“Come costumed and ready to walk, limp or crawl.’’ said Shank. “We will be registering people at the event, or you can download our registration form. Registration will start at 4 p.m.; the walk starts at 5 p.m.”
Zombiefest will start with a trek along S. Washington Street to S. Market Street, which will be blocked off to traffic as zombies take over Lisbon’s main street. Participants will then go to the Columbiana County Courthouse parking lot where they will have a flashmob dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
They will then cross over to the Village Square and Gazebo where a Zombie King and Queen will be crowned as well as prizes awarded for the best costumes.
The Lisbon Grange will be offering free pumpkin and vanilla ice cream, while N2 (130 S Market Street) will be offering free “brain cookies” while they last to costumed zombies. There will be other food vendors as well.
We will also hold a virtual “scavenger” hunt, Shank said. The event ends at 7 p.m. but the fun doesn’t stop then. Several Lisbon establishments are holding Halloween parties from 7 p.m. on. So come and enjoy….and be sure to post fotos on Instagram (#zombiestakelisbon) or Facebook.
